Long-Term Nutrient Supply Options: Strategies to Improve Soil Phosphorus Availability in the Rice-Wheat System

چکیده

The indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers can deteriorate soil, grain, and environmental quality; still, these be restored if integrated nutrient management options with inclusion legumes in the cropping system are adopted. A long-term (19 year) rice-wheat experiment was examined to find out best practices (BNMP) through recommended dose (RDF), plant nutrition (IPNS), soil test crop response (STCR), farmyard manure (FYM), along pulses (berseem cowpea). Seven were applied combination organic fertilizer system. Results showed that a significant variation seen phosphorus (P) fractions among treatments depths. results significantly (p < 0.05) higher contribution availability by Residual-P followed NaHCO3-Po > NaOH-Pi NaOH-Po HCl-P NaHCO3-Pi available P lowest WSP under different after completing 19 cycles. Overall, its superiority over rest treatment. This study suggests would P-availability

Leaf and soil nitrogen and phosphorus availability in a neotropical rain forest of nutrient-rich soil.

The nitrogen and phosphorus supply in a lowland rain forest with a nutrient-rich soil was investigated by means of the leaf N/P quotient. It was hypothesised a high N and P supply to the forest ecosystem with a N and P rich soil. Total N and extractable P were determined in the surface (10 cm) soil of three plots of the forest. Total N was analysed by the Kjeldahl method, and P was extracted wi...

Leaf nitrogen and phosphorus of temperate desert plants in response to climate and soil nutrient availability

In desert ecosystems, plant growth and nutrient uptake are restricted by availability of soil nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P). The effects of both climate and soil nutrient conditions on N and P concentrations among desert plant life forms (annual, perennial and shrub) remain unclear. We assessed leaf N and P levels of 54 desert plants and measured the corresponding soil N and P in shallow (0-1...

Ruzigrass affecting soil‐phosphorus availability

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness of ruzigrass (Urochloa ruziziensis) in enhancing soil‐P availability in areas fertilized with soluble or reactive rock phosphates. The area had been cropped for five years under no‐till, in a system involving soybean, triticale/black‐oat, and pearl millet. Previously to the five‐year cultivation period, corrective phosphorus fertiliza...

Weed seed-bank responses to long-term fertilization in a rice-wheat rotation system

We studied the heterogeneity of soil weed seed-bank in a rice-wheat rotation system after long-term application of different organic or non-organic fertilizers, and the effects of major nutrients on the characteristics of the weed seed-bank. The soil was sampled in the Taihu area after a 31-year long-term fertilization experiment. Weed seeds were identified and counted in the surface soil of 12...
